Cropping Guide | Westchester Portrait Photographer
I wanted to share this guide with you to help make placing orders easier. When you have a photo you love and want to blow it up and put it on your wall keep in mind that when printed it might not look exactly as the original due to cropping. That can be very disappointing if you like the whole composition of the original photo. 4×6’s, 16×24’s and 20×30’s do not require any cropping, just something to keep in mind when placing an order or even enlarging your own pictures!
Jo Jo | Newborn Photography Westchester NY
This little boy has a very special place in my heart. Some of you know that my son is a former 27 week preemie, as is Jo Jo.
Jo Jo is also the only other baby I’ve met besides Henry that came home on oxygen after being in the hospital for months. When I went to his house to photograph him I instantly could relate to his mom, there is so much that surrounds bringing a preemie home especially one that has been so sick. I loved that I could show Jo Jo’s mom a photo of Henry now, and share with her how well he is doing. This little man is doing amazing and I was sooo honored to be able to photograph him.

Why does it cost so much?
I’ve had people ask why the session fee is so much. “Why does it cost so much to take pictures for an hour?”, someone even said to me recently “you’ve got a great scam going on there.” That was my favorite 🙂
THere is so much more that goes into a photo session than the time spent with the client actually shooting. I am an on location photographer, which means, I drive wherever you want (with in reason!). Living in the tri state area we think nothing much of driving an hour plus to go to work, to go to a birthday or even playdates for that matter, but in regards to business the time to get to the location of your choice and home adds up as does the cost of gas and sometimes I have to pay a babysitter or it’s just time away from my family. So if a session is 45 minutes away, that’s a total of 1.5 hours spent traveling and then an hour or 2 for the session (i don’t rush). So average it’s 3 and a half hours for me to do a session from start to finish. Now add on to that editing, ordering, answering questions, making small adjustments per clients request, assistance with where to hang photos, what size is best, what photos in an album and then placing the order, packaging and mailing. All of that adds up. I love every aspect of it from beginning to end and the clients who hire me value my time and talent. If Aunt Sally has an awesome camera and you do not want to pay for me then I totally understand but I’m not a scam 🙂
I take time with my editing, and maybe sometimes too much but I take pride in what I present to clients. Every day I’m learning something new and that benefits my awesome clients!!
Does Aunt Sally remove recycle bins, ugly orange plastic fences and other giant eye sores that take away from the real focus of your photo?
