Choosing a newborn photographer can be a difficult decision. You know you want newborn photos, but when you do a search so many photographers websites pop up. Here are a couple of my suggestions for choosing:
1. Ask your friends, local moms groups or social media. This is a great way to hear first hand about the experience others had. How was the photographer with your baby, how did the session go, products, prices..were they worth the $ etc.
2. You are sure to get many suggestions if you do step one. From there check out the suggested photographers websites. Photographers are artists and no two artist will have the same style. Look for a style that appeals to you. Timeless, classic, bold, light & airy, modern, simple, use of props, “Anne Geddes” type photos, lifestyle photos…and so on.
3.Newborn photography can be an investment or it can be cheap. Of course you need to keep your budget in mind, but choosing a photographer based on price might not work in your favor. Capturing your little one as a true newborn leaves little time for do overs.
4.Speak with the photographer or meet in person. You WANT to have a connection, it’s really important.
5. Book a maternity session! This is a great way to really get a feel for the photographer, and maternity sessions are usually less money. Then once the baby is born, going to the newborn session will probably not feel as stressful as you already know what to expect.
