They dreamed of having a baby, and one day that dream finally came true…
Growing up, most of us at some point, dream of having children. To have a baby seems like the most natural thing. For some it easy and for others it really, really hard. I was so honored to photograph this beautiful little girl and her amazing parents. Jillian, is their dream come true.
“After many years of infertility and devastating losses, we made the decision to adopt. We were always open to adoption so the decision came easily. Two friends had recommended the Gladney Center for Adoption. We researched the agency and learned that it was started by a woman named Edna Gladney as a result of the orphan trains. Sadly, northern Texas was the last stop for the orphan children who were not picked up along the way. Gladney was also unique because the agency provides birth mothers with a lifetime of support. They agency has dorms and the birth moms can stay there up to six weeks after delivery. They are provided with counseling and the agency tries to help them get a job or go to school. We were a little strict with our criteria and after 25 months we had a our perfect baby girl. We met her birthmom who was truly a wonderful and selfless person. We think of her everyday and are forever grateful to her. We left the hospital with a beautiful daughter when she was two days old. She immediately felt like our daughter and we know that she was meant to be ours. Although it was a very long journey, it was worth it. There were many times along the way, that we thought that we would never be parents, but every loss just made us stronger and we cherish every moment with our beautiful baby. You never know what path you are meant to take, but there really is a baby out there if you just wait well and follow your heart. We are forever grateful to Gladney.”-Joanie, momThis session was so personal to me, as I am an adoptive mom too. My beautiful daughter was born 6 years ago to an amazing selfless young birthmother. Not a day goes by that I do not thank God for such an amazing blessing. 🙂
